Leigh Ann Hoey
Artist: Leigh Ann Hoey
Medium: Fluid Art/Acrylic Pouring
After retiring from a long career in a technical field, Leigh Ann
discovered the vibrant world of acrylic pouring and never looked back. Trading
spreadsheets for swirls of color, she unlocked her creative side and dove
headfirst into a medium that’s as expressive as it is unique. Acrylic pouring is a
technique that uses diluted acrylic paint mixed with a pouring medium, and/or
water, to create generally abstract designs. Leigh Ann has taken it to another
level by using this art medium’s tools such as a hair dryer, palette knife, beads
and string, to create non-abstract paintings. It does not involve a paint brush,
and paintings are created while wet, so in approximately 90 minutes or less.
Being a south Florida native, Leigh Ann enjoys creating colorful gardens full of
tropical flora and fauna, undersea scenes and abstract compositions. “I get so
excited when starting a new painting. Mixing paints, designing a new composition
and watching magical scenes come to life is such a thrill.”
